The Mariner Republic is a sovereign state on Mars which occupies the entirety of the Mariner Valleys, after which it is named. The Mariner Republic gained independence from the Neo-Martian Union at the end of the First Martian Civil War after the Treaty of Roosevelt.

Being located on Mars, the climate in the Mariner Republic is cold and hostile, with semi-frequent dust storms and no living organisms outside of the many domed cities and underground arcologies. These cities are pressurised environments with regulated climates and, in designated areas, lush vegetation with natural parks where wildlife roams free.
