The Epsilon Indi system (ε Ind, ε Indi) is a star system located in the Solar Sector, 9.65 ly from the Proxima Centauri system. It was first colonized in 2230, and has experienced rapid growth due to its close proximity to major interstellar lanes, with human settlements on almost every major body in the system.
Etymology
Epsilon Indi is the system's Bayer designation, as per Johann Bayer's Uranometria (1603) and Johann Elert Bode's Uranographia (1801).
