Mars is the fourth planet from Sol and the second extraterrestrial body (after Luna) to be colonised by humans, with the first permanent colonists settling in 2029. Since then, Mars has known several geopolitical changes and two civil wars. By the late 23rd century it has become the most influential power in the Sol system after Earth.
